Marble Side Table

This side table is cut from Calacatta White marble and measures 40 cm wide by 40 cm deep, standing 45 cm tall. The character is in the stone. Calacatta-type white marble reads as a bright white field crossed by bold, thick, clearly defined veining that runs from gold through brown to grey, giving high contrast across the top. Because veining is geological rather than printed, no two slabs are identical, so the pattern on your table will be its own — a stronger, more graphic look than the softer, feathery grey veining of Carrara-type marble.

Marble is a natural, calcium-carbonate stone, which makes it more characterful but more demanding than engineered surfaces. It is porous and can absorb liquids, so spills — especially wine, coffee and citrus — should be blotted (not rubbed) right away, and acidic substances can chemically etch the surface into dull marks within a short time of contact. Day to day, wipe with a soft cloth and pH-neutral soap in warm water, then dry to avoid water rings; avoid vinegar, lemon and bleach-based cleaners. Natural marble also benefits from periodic resealing with a quality stone sealer, which reduces staining (though sealing does not stop acid etching).
