Natural marble · Painted finish

Overview
The full design intent, materials, and how this system is built — in detail.
This sideboard pairs a natural marble top with a walnut body, saddle leather, and a water-based painted finish. It measures 125 cm wide, 40 cm deep, and 89 cm tall — a tall, shallow footprint that sits against a wall in a dining room or entry without crowding the floor, keeping serving and display height near counter level.
The marble surface is the piece's character. Natural marble forms with unique veining slab to slab, so no two tops read exactly alike. It is also a relatively soft, porous stone — calcium carbonate by nature — which means it absorbs liquids and reacts to acids more readily than engineered surfaces; that is the trade-off that comes with a genuine stone top rather than a uniform manufactured one.
Beneath the stone, the walnut casework and saddle leather give the sideboard tactile contrast — warm wood grain and leather against the cool, hard marble plane on top. The water-based finish is applied to the wood elements. As a sideboard, it works as a serving surface, a place for glassware and decanters, and storage for table linens and tableware, with the marble top staging anything you set out.
Because the top is natural marble, day-to-day care means wiping with a pH-neutral cleaner and blotting spills promptly rather than rubbing, plus coasters and trivets under glasses and hot dishes; acidic cleaners like vinegar or lemon should be avoided as they etch the stone. FAQ
These questions help buyers compare options and reduce friction before inquiry.
The top is natural marble. Unlike engineered surfaces, natural marble is a relatively soft, porous stone (calcium carbonate) with veining that is unique to each slab — so it absorbs liquids and reacts to acids more readily than a non-porous manufactured surface, in exchange for genuine stone character. We can walk through the specifics in a consultation at /consultation.
Wipe it with a pH-neutral cleaner in warm water and dry it to avoid water rings, and blot spills right away instead of rubbing, since rubbing can drive pigment deeper into the porous stone. Avoid acidic or bleach-based cleaners such as vinegar and lemon, which chemically etch marble. Use coasters and trivets under glasses and hot dishes.
