Local design tradition favors warm metallics, Italian marble companions, and cool-toned restraint, yet conventional wood-based cabinetry fails catastrophically in this climate, warping and off-gassing formaldehyde in sealed, air-conditioned interiors where WHO guidelines for indoor air quality are increasingly enforced.

The waterfront location imposed additional constraints: chloride corrosion from coastal air, sand infiltration that abrades surfaces, and UV exposure that degrades lesser finishes.
