Start with the way you cook outside
An outdoor kitchen in Singapore works best when its layout follows the site and the meals you actually cook. Start with the site’s shelter, sun, rain and wind exposure, and the equipment you expect to use. Decide what happens outdoors: grilling, preparation, washing, serving, or all of them. For a Fadior outdoor kitchen consultation, bring measured plans and the selected appliance instructions. The first useful decision is choosing cooking, washing and storage zones that let you prepare and serve a meal outdoors without crowding the people gathering nearby. For a written scope, California’s contractor board recommends explaining how and when work will be done, which materials will be used and the cost. Its checklist includes contractor contact details, a
completion date and written details of any warranties offered for labour or materials. Put verbal promises in writing and understand the agreement before signing, following that consumer guidance.
Choose modules or a fitted cabinet run
IKEA’s outdoor kitchen guide shows how to add another module to an existing arrangement, rearrange the units, or take them with you when you move home. IKEA’s guide describes its BÅTSKÄR grill as a place to cook at a lower temperature or to keep food warm. Stone Emperor’s outdoor kitchen planning guide relates permanent or portable equipment to whether you expect to stay or move, alongside budget, lifestyle and cooking method. IKEA’s design guide currently marks the 61 × 61 cm open unit as unavailable for delivery.
Measure the whole working area
IKEA Singapore’s outdoor kitchen range lists an 86 × 61 cm island shelf unit, giving module dimensions rather than installation clearances. Its sink combinations and side-table configurations have different footprints. For a drawing checklist, NKBA’s kitchen portfolio standard calls for a floor plan showing cabinets, counters, fixtures and equipment, including hinged openings. Stone Emperor asks planners to consider guest numbers and adjust appliance or seating areas accordingly. Measure the space and identify the appliances you need, leaving out the least important if they do not fit. NKBA’s drawing checklist records existing mechanical systems and places plumbing rough-ins on the services plan. The delivered Fadior galley guide also recommends drawing door swings and appliance openings before choosing sink accessories. The NKBA
checklist pairs the floor plan with a cabinet schedule giving each cabinet’s width, depth, height and door swing, and an equipment schedule recording the quantity of each item and who will supply and install it.
Match the equipment to your menu
Decide whether preparation will happen indoors or outdoors, and whether the outdoor setup needs a counter and sink. Stone Emperor distinguishes a simple setup from a fully functional kitchen when discussing the budget and equipment selection. Stone Emperor describes gas, electric and charcoal cooking as choices to consider, together with ovens and other equipment. Provide the exact BBQ model and its installation instructions for coordination with the cabinet drawings. Agree the required heat clearances, ventilation, connections and maintenance access for those appliances before fixing the cabinet layout; use the appliance installation drawings and site measurements for dimensions.
Plan water, drainage and the return trip
IKEA’s illustrated sink setup makes rinsing vegetables, washing plates and hand washing possible beside the cooking area. For its illustrated sink setup, IKEA’s guide describes a hose-fed arrangement and a container that you empty by hand, with water specifically described as unsafe for drinking. For the site’s water connections, coordinate the sink, the route for its waste water and the falls of the surrounding floor with the local designer and plumber. Stone Emperor advises considering how far the outdoor kitchen will be from the house.
Specify for the actual exposure
Give the supplier a clear account of rain entry, shelter, sun, wind, nearby salt exposure and the cleaning routine. Kenoutdoor’s Singapore patio case study describes a compact scheme with concealed storage, a sink and refrigerator, neutral fronts and quartz worktops, with weather-resistance and months-of-exposure performance reported by the supplier for that project. Select the finish-specific care routine for the site’s exposure. For Fadior, the cabinet body, fronts, finishes, countertops, hardware and installation materials follow their separate specifications and documents; see the Fadior materials guide. Distinguish the covered and open-air positions when planning rain entry, drainage, ventilation and appliance access. Discuss the sink waste route, surrounding floor falls and the chosen finish’s cleaning instructions. The outdoor planning table asks you
to identify how the units will be supported at their base, where they will be fixed, and which services and appliances need to be coordinated.
| Decision | Bring to the discussion | Agree in the order |
|---|---|---|
| Site exposure | Shelter, rain entry and surroundings | Selected components, finish and care |
| Cooking equipment | Exact appliance models and instructions | Openings, clearances, ventilation and access |
| Water and waste | Sink choice and local service plan | Connections, waste route and responsibility |
| Storage and serving | Cooking, storage and serving functions | Selected storage and serving layout |
| Order and delivery | Destination and access information | Freight charge, service level and included local services |
Compare surfaces as part of a system
Cosentino’s Openair Kitchen case study describes PURE linear and L-shaped kitchens, an optional island and separate CUBE modules, with thickness, fabrication, surface-performance and design details specific to the featured Openair system and its Dekton components. Its Berlin example combines powder-coated aluminium bodies and fronts with Dekton surfaces, usually 12 mm thick. It also reports machining split between Cosentino and a local stonemason.
Separate cooking from serving
Fadior’s outdoor planning guidance separates cooking, preparation, washing, storage and serving functions. Robb Report’s outdoor kitchen design survey describes RODA Norma’s sink and cooking modules with an optional peninsula, Brown Jordan’s modular CUBE, and Boffi AH01’s cooking, washing and working modules, with material and cooking-plate performance descriptions specific to those named products. These offer different ways to arrange functions. For the chosen BBQ, match cabinet drawings to the appliance maker’s installation instructions. Stone Emperor recommends allowing for the people being cooked for when planning appliances and seating areas.
Make storage useful after the gathering
IKEA’s design guide describes storage below the counter for items you want close at hand. Fadior’s outdoor planning table separately calls for access to appliances and services. IKEA’s design guide shows open units, closed units, back panels and foldable side tables as different module choices. Its larger BÅTSKÄR combinations provide more work surface and storage, with room for drinks or a buffet. A Lemon8 outdoor kitchen post offers the author’s personal design commentary on compact layouts, a side stove, slab surfaces, drainage and covers. In the Fadior delivered galley, the smoked-glass dining sideboard holds display items, drawers and a coffee station outside the working kitchen. The case page uses that separation to distinguish visible storage from items kept behind solid
fronts. Its serving and coffee storage is near dining rather than on the sink run.
Compare complete quotations
IKEA’s displayed prices and retail delivery offer cover its own individual modules and combinations, whose included products vary, rather than a fitted custom kitchen. Stone Emperor identifies material availability, project size, labour and special installations as factors in the overall budget. For a written specification, California’s contractor board recommends specifying which products will be used, their sizes, colours, quantities and model numbers, and who is responsible for each part of the work.
Keep care straightforward
Build cleaning access into the plan. IKEA recommends removing standing water and covering its outdoor kitchens because weather can still damage surfaces. Follow the selected finish’s care instructions and agree a cleaning routine that accounts for the exposure at your site. Fadior’s outdoor kitchen planning guide recommends removing salt and cooking deposits using a soft cloth and a mild, chloride-free, finish-compatible cleaner, followed by fresh-water rinsing and drying. Keep drainage and appliance service access in the layout. Ask how the selected finish should be treated after cooking and after a wet period. NKBA’s certification guide covers manuals, cleaning protocols and warranty documentation for equipment maintenance and project close-out, along with follow-up for the homeowner and guidance on caring for the
finished kitchen.
Specify the Fadior cabinet body clearly
Fadior specifies glue-free 304 stainless steel cabinet bodies. Fronts, finishes, countertops, hardware and installation materials retain their own specifications and supporting documents. The Fadior outdoor kitchen collections invite comparison by layout and provide finish and product details for each design. Fadior’s outdoor planning guidance considers exposure when choosing doors, finishes, lighting and equipment. Its planning table pairs the selected BBQ model with cut-out dimensions, heat clearances, ventilation and service access. The cabinet-body material statement is one part of the project specification. Fadior cabinets are assembled and packed at our Foshan factory.
Use delivered homes for the right questions
The Ludaohu No.1 delivered home, an indoor Foshan apartment rather than a Singapore outdoor-grill installation, records two parallel cabinet runs and a steel sink area with a fitted drainer rack and a board sliding over the bowl. The board temporarily extends preparation over the basin, while the fitted drainer sits beside it. Use it to frame layout questions, then ask for the documents relevant to your own site. Discuss this parallel kitchen and sink using the case photographs.
Agree the Singapore supply and site responsibilities
For Singapore delivery questions, begin with the Fadior shipping policy: a quote request alone does not confirm shipping availability. The final order document confirms the freight charge, destination and service level before an order is accepted. Local delivery, unloading, assembly and installation are included only when listed in the final order. Provide the address and disclose access constraints before acceptance. Keep cabinet fixing, appliance connections and commissioning responsibilities explicit. The cabinet-body terms are: 30-year cabinet-body structural warranty; terms per contract. The Fadior manufacturing overview describes cabinet bodies and separate documents for other components. Before acceptance, the shipping policy specifies quantities, destination, freight, service level, production and transit estimates, and responsibility for duties and taxes. Where those details have not
been shown and accepted, shipping remains unconfirmed. Production and transit timings remain estimates unless the final order expressly guarantees them. The Fadior company overview provides further company context.
